“Sustainability is being truly responsible for the impact of our actions”

Responsible dealings with both nature and people have always formed part of the Weleda business, ever since 1921 when Rudolf Steiner articulated his vision of a company completely at the service of human beings and the world as a whole. Whether it’s through fair trade, biodynamic cultivation or the supportive development of their employees – sustainability is part of their roots.

Weleda has a long-term commitment to sustainability: constantly monitoring and reducing their water consumption, using green electricity and other greener and cleaner manufacturing practices, sourcing sustainable ingredients, reducing manufacturing waste, using recycled or recyclable materials, working in fair trade partnership with organic farmers and supporting the local communities and their traditions, all underpinned by their treasured membership of the UEBT.

More than 78% of the raw materials used by Weleda come from certified organic or biodynamic farming, or from controlled wild collection, a figure they are continuously working on to increase. This dedication to biological diversity is of the greatest importance to Weleda – without biodiversity there would be no Weleda products.

Weleda is represented in Malta by MK Pharma, a local company representing quality international brands in the natural and organic sectors. MK Pharma teams up with brands who give importance to good manufacturing practices, environmental and social sustainability, and of course no testing on animals.
